Position Summary
Based out of Mississauga, ON, the Intern, Corporate Development will assist with the facilitation of current asset action plans, and collaborate with team members to support in-house Geographic Information System (GIS) software enhancement. The Intern, Corporate Development will also assist with ad hoc projects as required to support other strategic initiatives within Corporate Development team related to Investment and Development analytics. Additional duties of the Intern, Corporate Development include but are not limited to:
- Researching Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry trends, asset class performances and REIT peers strategy related development.
- Leveraging industry data and reports to study the latest CRE trends and identify potential opportunities and risks for Crombie.
- Analyzing REIT peers performances and capital allocation activities through various financial reports and news.
- Conducting market, economic and demographic research related to:
- Population growth and demographic trend research to understand the potential implications for Crombie’s property network and future acquisition targets.
- Analyzing housing market data to understand the potential implications to Crombie’s major development pipeline.
- Collaborating with GIS Analyst to support in-house Geographic Information System (GIS) software enhancement such as:
- Managing, updating and collecting spatial data.
- Develop databases of in-house and third party data in a sustainable manner.
- Property and retail tenant store network analysis.
- Identify potential retail tenants for property vacant unit through analyzing various chain retailers’ store network.
- Assisting with ad hoc projects as required to support other strategic initiatives within Corporate Development team related to Investment and Development analytics.
- Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
- Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
The profile we are looking for
- Enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program with a focus in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related area.
- Able to arrive at a job location and commit to 4 months full-time contract employment from May until the end of August.
- Strong researching skills.
- Experience with data analytics is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication and attention to detail skills.
- Candidates enrolled in a co-op program will be considered a strong asset.
