Position Summary
Based out of New Glasgow or Halifax, NS, the Intern, ESG & Sustainability assists with ESG initiatives such as Climate Action Plan, Waste Management and Water Conservation Strategies. This role also assists with BOMA Best and Rick Hansen certifications, market research, analyzing data, and supporting projects as needed to improve the consistency and efficiency of our business. Additional duties of the Intern, ESG & Sustainability include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the roll out of Crombie’s Climate Action Plan, including but not limited to market research for proven decarbonization levers, data collection, and interpretation.
- Participating in Crombie’s Carbon Committee by scheduling meetings, taking notes, providing feedback and research on reducing greenhouse gases.
- Providing support to Environmental Manager in the development of Crombie’s Waste Management and Water Conservation Strategy through research and collaboration.
- Assisting with the creation of a program to manage physical climate risk to Crombie’s portfolios through research, providing feedback, tracking, coordinating and collaboration.
- Assisting with BOMA Best and Rick Hansen certification plans, as well as assisting with the completion of application forms.
- Researching and reporting on emerging trends in ESG and Corporate Sustainability.
- Consolidating, analyzing and interpreting data sets related to ESG and Corporate Sustainability.
- Conducting benchmarking reviews on a variety of ESG topics to understand our position against our competitors and peers.
- Compiling ESG documentation and data to support the 2025 GRESB submission as well as 2024 ESG Report.
- Improving the internal ESG SharePoint page to provide helpful information on ESG news, projects, and tips to Crombie employees.
- Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
- Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
The profile we are looking for
- Enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program with a focus in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Science, Business Administration, Finance or related area.
- Participation in a co-op program is considered a strong asset.
- Previous experience working in ESG is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to arrive at a job location and commit to 4 months full-time contract employment from May until the end of August.
- Committed to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).
